(KPLC) - McNeese Track & Field athlete Marcus Francis was named the 2025 Southland Conference Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Year on Thursday following an impressive season for the Cowboys. Francis scored 24 points at the Southland Conference Championships, winning gold in both the shot put and discus competitions, while also placing fifth in the hammer throw.

(KPLC) - Thursday was a disappointing day for the McNeese Cowboys as they took a 6-4 lead into the eighth inning of their first Southland Conference Tournament game, and a 6-5 lead into the ninth inning, before falling 7-6 to Northwestern State. However, despite the loss, the Cowboys had another opportunity on Friday to keep their season alive and move on in the Southland Tournament.

(KPLC) - The end of the regular season was a struggle for the McNeese baseball team as they lost eight of their final 11 games, and six of their final nine Southland Conference games, but beginning on Thursday, all of that was in the past as the Pokes turned their focus to the Southland Conference Tournament. Thursday’s Southland Conference Tournament opponent was the same team they saw less than a week earlier, the Northwestern State Demons.

In the most brutal fashion possible, McNeese loses game three of the Southland Conference Championship, and Southeastern wins the title. An overturned call gave the Lady Lions a chance in the seventh, overturning what would have been the final out giving McNeese the win,
