    LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - In response to years of reckless driving, illegal street racing, and dangerous speeding on state trunklines, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is starting a traffic-calming infrastructure project in South Lansing. State Senator Sarah Anthony announced the beginning of construction on Monday. On June 16, MDOT will begin construction on four pedestrian refuge islands along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, between Victor Avenue and Cavanaugh Road, in Lansing.

    LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Lake Lansing Community Concert series is starting for the summer. Every Friday from May 30 to August 22, there will be a concert at Lake Lansing Park South. The performances start at 6 p.m. It is free to the public. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair.

    LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A fire has shut down a portion of Davis Highway in Delta Township between Guinea and Canal Roads. The fire broke out around midnight Wednesday. Multiple fire departments responded to the fire, including Winsor Township and Grand Legde. Troopers with the Michigan State Police blocked off the area.
