WILX-TV serves as the NBC affiliate for Central Michigan. It is licensed to the town of Onondaga and transmits a high-definition digital signal on VHF channel 10. Viewers can also find it on Comcast channel 4 in Lansing, Comcast channel 10 in East Lansing and Jackson, and in high definition on digital channel 232. The station is owned by Gray Television and operates its studios on American Road, close to I-96 in Lansing, while its transmitter is situated in Onondaga.

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan-based rock ‘n’ roll singer Ted Nugent brought a gun inside the state capitol Wednesday, a violation of Capitol rules, state police said. Nugent, a popular musician and conservative figurehead, was visiting the state capitol to speak on alleged overreach in the state’s Department of Natural Resources. MSP told News 10 Nugent had entered through the north side of the building and went through the weapons detection system.

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Lansing has its share of wild animals. Many residents are used to seeing a deer or raccoon wandering through the Capital City. aboutAround 2:15 p.m., police received a call about a loose animal in the city. Upon arrival, officers discovered the animal was an emu - a large flightless bird native to Australia. Both LPD officers and animal control officers attempted to catch the emu. However, the loose bird died during the incident.

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - On Wednesday, the U.S. Court of Appeals affirmed that Michigan’s Newborn Screening Program was constitutional, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced. The decision reversed a lower-court ruling that found the program violated the constitutional rights of parents to direct their child’s medical care. The Newborn Screening Program collects blood cells from newborns and analyzes them for potential diseases, which Nessel says saves lives through early detection.

JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - A Texas man and leader of a Jackson, Michigan gang has been sentenced to federal prison for conspiring to traffic a “unique” kind of fentanyl. Tamarious “Pookie” Faulkner was accused of leading the “violent” street gang, the “Thorough Bread Family” (TBF). Faulkner was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute over 400 grams of fentanyl. The 28-year-old Houston man and his gang sold fentanyl with a unique green texture and coloring.
