Lost thrived during the network TV era. Having the luxury of seasons with two-digit episode counts, the show could afford to throw some duds out there and still have decent ratings. The greatest (and worst) example of this is Season 3’s Jack-centric episode “Stranger in a Strange Land.” Having Matthew Fox’s Jack, the ultimate people-pleaser, trying to save the enemy in the present and forcefully connecting with a stranger in the past makes for an hour full of awkwardness.

Almost three years after her introduction in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Dominique Thorne will reprise her role as Riri Williams in her own Disney+ solo series. And although the Black Panther sequel has been her only appearance in the MCU, her relevance is not to be downplayed. Executive produced by Ryan Coogler himself, Riri’s story will continue in the show.

Last Friday was a big day for theatre kids across Mexico, with the release of Mentiras, The Series on Prime Video. The show is based on the musical of the same name – Mentiras, El Musical – which started its run in 2009 in Mexico City and hasn’t stopped since. Written and directed by José Manuel López Velarde, the musical tells the story of four extremely different women who are brought together by a tragedy – all this while incorporating iconic 80s Mexican bops into its narrative.

The X-Men franchise has been on a weird and uneven ride through its several years of storytelling at 20th Century Fox. When Lost premiered on network TV in 2004, it was a cultural reset for the medium. Having a lore-heavy sci-fi show on network TV wasn’t an easy feat. Without being a procedural, Lost managed to keep a captive audience through its relatable characters, by plunging them into an outlandish and unknown setting — all while unfolding its complex mythology. But the efforts to get Lost off the ground were riddled with turbulence.
