A Kingsclear First Nation man is facing several charges – including attempted murder – after he allegedly opened fire on New Brunswick RCMP, hitting one officer in the head. According to the RCMP, officers responded to a reported assault at a Tomahawk Avenue residence in Kingsclear First Nation around 12:35 p.m. on Tuesday. A 34-year-old man, who was known to police, was found outside the home. The suspect allegedly threatened police and barricaded himself inside the residence with a weapon.

One person is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a vehicle-pedestrian collision on Spring Garden Road in Halifax Wednesday afternoon. Police issued a traffic advisory about the crash around 4 p.m. They said the portion of Spring Garden Road between Dresden Row and Brenton Street is closed to traffic in both directions. Three homes were evacuated due to dangerous carbon monoxide levels in Timberlea, N.S., on Tuesday night. The Halifax Professional Fire Fighters Association says crews responded to a carbon monoxide alarm around 9 p.m. After the homes were evacuated, crews cleared the scene around 1:30 a.m.The association says crews returned to the scene Wednesday morning to reassess the home affected by the carbon monoxide.

Nova Scotia, like most provinces, is looking at ways to tackle the ongoing housing crisis, but a construction group says a lack of skilled workers is a major hurdle that needs to be addressed. Duncan Williams, president of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia, said recent data shows there is a shortage of 15,000 skilled workers in the next decade. “Some of those trades right now are critical,” he told CTV News Atlantic’s Todd Battis on Tuesday.
