DURAND — The Durand Memorial Library is about to undergo a significant interior overhaul. The library — which originally opened its doors in 1954 — is set to close on Jan. 8 for work expected to last a little more than two weeks, giving staff a cushion to prepare for a targeted reopening of Feb. 1. The work will constitute what Shiawassee District Library director Kimberly White calls “a major remodel” — one long overdue.
