LaSalle Mayor Crystal Meloche is adding her voice to the chorus of local officials that have come out against the expansion of strong mayor powers. Earlier this month, the Ford government announced the expansion of strong mayor powers to leaders in 169 more municipalities, including LaSalle. The powers give mayors the ability to override some council decisions, fire and hire senior staff, and veto bylaws.

The provincial government has announced more than $4.5 million for Windsor and Tecumseh’s transit. The funding comes from the 2024-25 Gas Tax program. Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie says the provincial government recognizes that many people rely on public transit services.

Advanced polls will be open starting today for voters to cast their ballots early for the federal election. Those looking to cast their ballots early can vote from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, April 18 through Monday, April 21. All registered voters should have received a voter information card in the mail which will tell you which location to visit to vote within your riding.

The Windsor Spitfires will be pushing hard for a win tonight at home to move onto the next round of playoffs. The Spits were shut out on Wednesday night in Kitchener by the Rangers during Game 4. The Rangers goalie, Jackson Parsons, made 24 saves, while Spits goaltender Joey Costanzo stopped 32 of 34 shots. Windsor leads the best-of-seven OHL Western Conference semifinal series 3-1.

The Grammy and JUNO award-winning artist will bring her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 30th Anniversary 2025 Canadian Tour to Caesars Windsor on October 25.
