Brentwood has received a $99,000 Resilient Communities Fund Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to grow their Peer Support Training Program. This program empowers individuals with lived experience of recovery - or who are considered "alumni" of the program - to help support others on their own recovery journey.
Man remains in hospital following Thursday fire on Pelissier, investigation continues

Fire investigators continue to look into what caused a fire in downtown Windsor earlier this week. A fire broke out in the 700 block of Pelissier Street on Thursday afternoon, and one man was removed from a building with burns. The fire had been contained on the first floor but had spread to the second floor of the building. Nine Windsor Fire and Rescue vehicles were on scene and crews were able to put out the blaze.

Windsor Police look to identify suspect following string of retail thefts

The Windsor Police Service is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect connected to a string of retail thefts in the city's west end. Police state that in April and June, the suspect entered a business in the 700 block of Patricia Road and allegedly stole over $1,000 worth of merchandise. On each occasion, the suspect left the store without making any attempt to pay for the various items.
Road-rage incident leads to drug trafficking charges in Chatham

A road-rage incident has led to an arrest and drug trafficking charges in Chatham-Kent. On June 10, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Unit obtained a search warrant for the home of a 32-year-old man in connection to a road-rage incident that occurred on May 26. The warrant allowed officers to search for a firearm and ammunition. On the evening of June 10, police arrested the man without incident. He was taken into custody for unauthorized possession of a firearm and pointing a firearm.
New mural completed within Sandwich Town

Those visiting Sandwich Town in Windsor will notice a new addition. A mural has been spray painted on the side of the building located at 3150 Sandwich Street - next to the Dominion House Tavern. Daniel Bombardier, also known as DENIAL, is a Canadian stencil and mural artist who completed the newest addition to the area. Stephen Hargreaves, the director of the Sandwich Town Business Improvement Association, commissioned Bombardier and his crew to complete the mural.

A successful turnout for the 2025 LaSalle Strawberry Festival. The Town has released the official attendance numbers for the event which ran from June 5 to June 8 at the Vollmer Complex. The four day event saw just shy of 28,700 attendees, where guests enjoyed 5,453 servings of strawberries and ice cream.

Positive news for local feeder plants as the Windsor Assembly Plant returns to two shifts sooner than expected. Unifor Local 195 President Emile Nabbout says while there is still anxiety about the future, that this is a win for his members. In early May it was announced that there would be alternating and fluctuating work schedules at the Windsor Assembly Plant for 12 weeks. It was also announced that the addition of a third shift at Windsor Assembly has been postponed until 2026.
Drugs and a weapon seized following arrest of a theft suspect

A 41-year-old man is facing a number of charges. Windsor Police seized a quantity of illegal drugs and a prohibited weapon from the man following a theft investigation. Earlier this month, police began investigating the theft of a watch, and learned that the suspect was trying to sell the stolen item through an online marketplace. Officers then arranged a meeting with the man. On June 10, police met the suspect in the 1400 block of Huron Church Road where he was taken into custody without incident.
