The local recipients for this year's Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign have been announced. Hiatus House and W.E. Care for Kids will receive 100% of the proceeds from next week's cookie campaign. It runs from April 28 to May 4 and features a $2 chocolate chunk cookies with pink and blue icing to create a smile. Hiatus House Executive Director Sylvie Guenther says the organization was chosen after submitting an application.

The future of policing is up for discussion Monday night in Amherstburg. Town staff is asking council for approval, to make a formal request to the Ministry of the Solicitor General for a Policing Resource Plan from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for policing in the town post December 31, 2028. Councillor Linden Crain says the town is looking at all options for policing in the town.

For the second year in a row, a LaSalle restaurant has won 'best burger' in Windsor-Essex. Joe Schmoe's Eats N Drinks on Malden Road near Sprucewood Avenue received the most votes in the 3rd annual Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland Burger Battle. Burger Battle chairperson Ann Hetherington says 11 restaurants took part in this year's battle with Wolfhead Distillery coming in second place and Harbour House finishing in third spot. The battle ran from January 6 to March 27.

A new music festival is coming to Windsor this summer. 'Mystic Garden Music Festival' will take place July 5 and 6 at Lanspeary Park and is being described as a celebration of electronic music. It's being put on by Kenekted, a Windsor-based electronic music collective that is dedicated to cultivating community through high-energy, bass-driven events. Public relations lead Ocean Ryan says the festival is a two-day multi-genre event. "We're having music," says Ryan.

The Town of Tecumseh is looking for further clarity on the Housing Accelerator Fund initiatives. Council met Tuesday evening, with a report on the HAF, specifically in terms of Initiative 1 regarding the four units as-of-right. The Town has been granted an extension until July 25, 2025, for completion of Initiative 1 under its agreement with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). This initiative seeks to permit up to four residential units on low-density lots.
