GENEVA, Switzerland, January 16, 2025/APO Group/ -- Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) strongly condemns the armed attack on two of its clearly marked boats on the afternoon of Wednesday, 15 January 2025, in Upper Nile state, South Sudan. The boats, carrying six MSF staff members, were sailing on the river back to Ulang after delivering essential medical supplies to Nasir County hospital.

PORT SUDAN, Sudan, January 12, 2025/APO Group/ -- On January 10, an MSF ambulance was shot at in El Fasher, North Darfur, by an unknown gunman while referring a female patient in labor requiring emergency surgical procedure from MSF field hospital in Zamzam camp to Saudi Hospital in El Fasher, the only public hospital with surgical capacity still standing in the area despite relentless attacks.

GENEVA, Switzerland, January 10, 2025/APO Group/ -- MSF has taken the difficult decision to suspend medical activities at Bashair hospital in Khartoum, Sudan. This follows a violent incident on 18 December, where weapons were fired inside the emergency ward. We hope conditions will allow us to return to the hospital in the future, as people in the area desperately need access to medical care.

KINSHASA, Democratic Republic of Congo, January 7, 2025/APO Group/ -- In recent days, the Masisi territory of North Kivu province, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has been the scene of major clashes between the armed group M23/AFC and the Congolese army, backed by allied elements. These clashes have led to large movements of people in the area - some 102,000 people in less than a week, according to OCHA.
