Plumes of black smoke can be seen 'for miles' across parts of Wigan this evening after a blaze erupted earlier today (Sunday, May 11). Witnesses reported hearing a 'mini explosion' as huge plumes of black smoke were seen billowing across Platt Bridge. Pictures and video shared on social media show the clouds of smoke on as firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service respond to the incident. The M.E.N reports the plume of smoke can be seen for miles.
