Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department, Trout Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Bon Wier Volunteer Fire Department, and East End Volunteer Fire all responded to Newton VFD’s call for assistance, according to Burkeville VFD Chief Charles Duckworth.

Engine 22, a fire truck that faithfully served Hardin County Emergency Services District 2 (ESD 2) for nearly 30 years, is being donated to Jasper County’s growing fire training academy.

    Gwinnett County firefighters responded to a house fire in Snellville on Tuesday. Firefighters said the fire in the 4100 block of Rosebud Park Drive was so intense that it was melting the vinyl siding of the two neighboring houses. Crews were able to contain the worst of the damage to the original house that caught fire. No one was injured in the fire, but the family did lose one pet. Fire investigators said the cause of the fire is currently undetermined. WSB-TV ABC 2 Atlanta

    An electric vehicle caught fire at a south Charlotte house early Monday morning, prompting a large response from emergency crews. The car started burning on Normans Landing Drive in the Hamilton Lakes neighborhood around 1:30 a.m. A fire engine and hazardous materials truck were brought out by the Charlotte Fire Department, and at least three Charlotte-Mecklenburg police cars responded to the home. Firefighters appeared to have contained the fire to a small area.

    VIDEO/PHOTOS: A massive scrapyard fire in Gastonia triggered a huge emergency response Monday afternoon, with around 30 agencies called in to help, including some from out-of-state. The blaze broke out around 3:30 p.m. at Metal Recycling Services on Highway 321 between Robinson and Crawford roads. Crews were at the recycling plant for about five hours as plumes of smoke filled the sky.
