    The Fort Worth Police Department has cleared its backlog of more than 900 sexual assault kits, uncovered in October through an NBC 5 investigation. There were 898 sexual assault kits that had been tested as of Oct. 11, but they had not been entered into the federal Combined DNA Index System, or CODIS, Police Chief Neil Noakes said during Tuesday's Fort Worth City Council meeting. By Oct. 18, 190 additional kits were mailed out for testing but went over the 90-day requirement for entry.

    Families for Irving candidate Sergio Porres has received the endorsement of his former Place 2 opponent Vicky Oduk ahead of the June 7 runoff election. Oduk announced her endorsement Monday in a joint video message with Porres. "We were running on the same agenda, the same priorities, and I would like to support you and see you achieve your dream, your vision about this race which, I believe, is also people-driven," Oduk told Porres in the video.

    A woman in Tarrant County Jail custody died of dehydration and malnutrition in February, according to recent medical examiner findings. Kimberly Phillips, 56, died Feb. 18 after spending days at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. At the time of her death, the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office said Phillips was transported to JPS on Feb. 15 but did not specify why. Her medical details became part of an open investigation. Phillips was arrested by the Grand Prairie Police Department on Jan.
