The work by Weybright and colleagues1 examines the experiences of handgun carrying among rural youths and highlights critical gaps in the types of questions researchers are asking—and the types of people they are inviting as partners.

Past prevention efforts have been politicized at the expense of the public’s health. This seems to be happening again.
