    With this year’s Isle of Man TT rapidly approaching, organisers have begun to announce the starting orders for each race. The seeded riders for every event will be confirmed this week, naming the top 20 starters and featuring some famous names including all-time wins leader Michael Dunlop and long-time TT legend John McGuinness. This year’s TT will take place from May 26 to June 7, with five qualifying sessions during the first week before six days of racing between May 31 and June 7.

    We are opposed to the recent change to the ice skating timetable at Braehead Ice Centre, with sessions reduced from 90 minutes to 60. The change was implemented effective immediately on Thursday February 6, with no prior warning or communication from centre management. There was no information about the change, the times online were just shortened, and no statement has been made since the change.

    For the second time, Kevin Magnussen’s post-Formula 1 career begins in IMSA this weekend, and his top-level BMW M Hybrid V8 sportscar is on pole. Magnussen was replaced for 2021 as Haas went to a Nikita Mazepin/Mick Schumacher line-up, and the Dane found solace in a Chip Ganassi-run IMSA programme - where he came within a puncture of winning IMSA’s traditional curtain-raiser at the Daytona 24 Hours.

    Jorge Martin has been crowned MotoGP world champion, clinching the title by finishing third in the Solidarity Grand Prix as victory from Pecco Bagnaia proved not enough to overturn his points deficit. After a stellar season, Pramac rider Martin finished behind Bagnaia and Gresini’s Marc Marquez on the day to finish 10 points ahead of Bagnaia in the standings.

    Two bizarre MotoGP crashes took place on the opening day in Barcelona, with the two Tech3 riders tangling before title contender Pecco Bagnaia crashed after the chequered flag in FP1. Factory Ducati rider Bagnaia went down in the braking zone at Turn 1 after the session had ended as Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales overtook him at speed after his practice start.
