As a bright-eyed freshman, I remember being so excited to finally get out of my Schramm dorm room that sat on the corner of the fourth floor. I wanted my own space, a place to cook and a place for my couch that wasn’t underneath my bed. But moving off campus meant navigating leases, bills and finding what both myself and my future roommates wanted in their off-campus living situation. The search was frustrating. Some of us were willing to pay a little more for rent or live further from campus.

Throughout her middle and high school years, Sara Brown worked in the restaurant industry — developing a passion for dodging through kitchens and creating recipes.
