SpaceX wants to launch more rockets — a lot more — from Florida’s Space CoastThe Federal Aviation Administration is evaluating a proposal by SpaceX to dramatically increase the number of rocket launches from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. These launches would be in addition to the ones the company has lifting off from Kennedy Space Center. Channel 9’s Melonie Holt found that SpaceX wants to up its annual launch volume at CCSFS from a maximum of 50 — to 120.

Union, county leaders seek solutions to increase firefighters’ salaries in Brevard CountyBrevard County firefighters are demanding higher salaries, telling commissioners that crews are overworked and underpaid. Brevard County Fire Rescue currently has more than 90 vacancies. Michael Bramson, president for the Brevard County Professional Firefighters Union, said that recent brush fires and the closing of Orlando Health Rockledge Hospital are making a difficult job even harder.

After more than 80 years in the community, Orlando Health Rockledge Hospital will close permanently on April 22. Originally established as Wuesthoff Hospital in 1941, Orlando Health took possession of the facility along with two other hospitals in October of last year. The hospital has served the community for 80 years. It is scheduled to shut down on April 22.
