Better news is back at the pump. AAA said the average price for a gallon of regular has again dropped below $3 in Florida, settling at $2.99 on Monday. That’s the lowest daily average price in nearly a month, according to the auto club. But experts said the price improvement might be short-lived. “Unfortunately, the downward trend may not continue much longer. Oil prices moved higher last week after the U.S. imposed sanctions on Iranian oil,” AAA’s Mark Jenkins said.

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Diocese of Orlando held a special morning mass Monday to honor Pope Francis. Francis died Monday at the age of 88, the Vatican reported. The church service took place at 9 a.m. at St. James Catholic Cathedral, located at 215 North Orange Avenue in Orlando. The regularly-scheduled 7 a.m. mass was not held Monday at the cathedral. Channel 9’s Geovany Dias attended the special mass for Francis. Pope Francis 1936-2025 Pope Francis has died, according to The Associated Press.

MCPS board members decided Thursday they will appoint Brewer, who has been working for the district since 2005. She started as a teacher before serving as an assistant principal, and then a principal. Brewer was named director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Digital Learning in 2021.

One person died and another person was hurt Friday morning in a traffic crash along Goldenrod Road in Orange County. ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — 9 a.m. update:Troopers said the crash happened at Goldenrod Road and Silver Pointe Boulevard in Orlando. FHP said the crash involved a 2011 Acura MDX that was traveling northbound on Goldenrod Road. Investigators said initial evidence shows that the driver ran off the roadway at a curve and then struck a wall, causing the car to overturn.

Police said the business owners were selling items on Facebook Marketplace that some might consider downright creepy. According to Orange City Police Department, the business “Wicked Wonderland,” operated by Ashley Lelesi and Kymerlee Schopper, advertised human bones for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
