As I get older and my life becomes more complicated, I've noticed my desire to spend time with certain friends has waned. Not that I don't love and care for them, but for various reasons, these friendships have become too complicated or too negative to warrant the effort it takes to keep them going. How sad. Yet I have to wonder, is this simply something that happens with age and increased stress? Or is it more?

While it’s true anyone can make a baby, surviving the challenges of infancy and toddlerhood is enough to make a good person crack. I know, I’ve been there. We all hear copious amounts of advice about how to be a great parent and let's be honest, most of it isn't just unrealistic. Maybe it’s rooted in a good place, but the difference between talking about being a great parent and being one can be miles apart.

Older generations spend so much time looking for ways to be happy and trying to find a shortcut to happiness that we don't even realize when we've missed the mark. Instead of focusing on the internal things we can change to get to feel happier and get to our happy place, we let outside sources dictate how happy we feel.
