NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Extreme heat and humidity will take over the eastern half of the U.S. for the first week of summer. This is thanks to what is commonly called a “heat dome.” A heat dome is an area of high pressure that acts as a hypothetical “dome,” trapping heat toward the surface and preventing clouds from forming, therefore not allowing much moisture. This allows radiation from the sun to hit the ground, creating more heat toward the already hot surface.

Believe it or not, we'll see smoke in our skies here in Tennessee from the Canadian wildfires. It won't be dangerous to be outside in Nashville this weekend. You'll just notice a haziness in the skies for the next few days. https://t.co/c6811tJ23G
