    DENVER — Police activity shut down Regional Transportation District service at Union Station on Tuesday afternoon, causing significant disruptions for afternoon commuters as multiple rail lines were suspended. RTD announced the closure of Union Station due to a police investigation after a suspicious package was left unattended on a train platform. RTD said shuttle buses are replacing the A, B, G, and N lines for at least part of their routes.

    AURORA, Colorado — An Aurora Police officer and a suspect were injured in a shooting late Monday afternoon during an encounter in a northeast Aurora parking lot, said Aurora police. The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 19900 block of East 56th Avenue, after officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area, according to a statement from the Aurora Police Department. Both the officer and the suspect were taken to hospitals.

    LONGMONT, Colo. — The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported threat to aircraft safety after someone claimed they shot at a small plane flying near Longmont’s municipal airport on Friday evening. A city employee alerted the sheriff’s office around 7:24 p.m. on May 9 after receiving a voicemail from an unidentified caller who said they had fired a gun at an ultralight aircraft near Vance Brand Longmont Municipal Airport, located at 229 Airport Road.

    DENVER — A silent auction was organized to raise money to help in the search for Denver woman Jax Gratton, who was last seen leaving her southeast Denver apartment on April 15. Denver Police began investigating the disappearance of the 34-year-old Gratton, a transgender woman who is a well-known hair stylist in town, when her family reported her missing in March.
