The Marysville Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees approved $3.7 million in budget cuts for the 2025-26 fiscal year, eliminating 46 full time equivalent positions, an adult education program, and a program allowing high school students to simultaneously earn college credits. While the formal vote to cut the positions and end the programs occurred Feb. 25, the board members reached a unanimous decision to make the cuts during a closed door session at the end of its Jan.

By Micah Yip andChuck SmithAppeal-DemocratThe historic Water Works building in downtown Marysville caught fire early Monday, obliterating a business inside. Marysville Fire Department responded to the fire at the building on the southeast corner of Fourth and D Streets around 2:45 a.m., according to a statement from the City of Marysville. No injuries were reported and the fire didn’t spread to other structures, but the business inside, Honey Barn Decor Boutique, was completely destroyed.
