However, this year instead of running toward Jesse Hall, the graduates ran from Jesse Hall. The Senior Sendoff tradition symbolizes the graduates going out into the world after completing their studies.

Glowing lightsabers of various vibrant colors were waved through the air by young padawans in the Friends Room of the Columbia Public Library on Wednesday. The attendees - from ages 10 to 18 - participated in the Jedi Knight Training Academy event, which was led by Youth Services librarian Megan Durham and Library associate Dana Bock. The fun began when the participants utilized materials to make their own lightsaber to take home. The materials included a wooden pole, paint and tape.
