ST. JOHNSBURY — Abdi Sharif dialed up 30 points as the top-ranked Burlington Seahorses blitzed the third-ranked St. J Academy Hilltoppers 86-66 in a Division I boys basketball showdown on Thursday night. Khamis Ali added 17 points and Pascal Munezero chipped in 14 for Burlington, which sprinted out to a 29-13 first-quarter advantage and hung 50 first-half points to lead by 21 at intermission in front of a large, rowdy crowd.

LYNDON CENTER — Ella Marshia (15 points) and Makayla Savage (10) each produced season-high scoring outputs as Lyndon Institute nearly picked up its first win of the season during a narrow 44-34 loss to visiting Harwood in a Vermont high school girls basketball meeting on Tuesday. The Vikings entered halftime down eight points but won the the third quarter make it a 34-28 game going into the fourth yet couldn’t muster up enough of a comeback to take down the Highlanders.

Below are the Caledonian-Record’s picks for our high school fall players of the year, not including soccer. Our soccer players of the year were published last week. St. Johnsbury’s Luc Oliver and North Country’s Sabine Brueck earned those honors.
