To celebrate that World Series championship, MLB’s Home Run Derby X – a fast-paced, co-ed, three-on-three version of the classic derby – is headed to Kansas City’s Kauffman Stadium on Sept. 13 with some of the most beloved players in team history joining in. Team legends and 2015 champs Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon and Ben Zobrist will all be participating in hopes of mashing dingers and earning a spot in this year’s finals in Salt Lake City.

The rise of Sturgill Simpson from acoustic guitar-picking barman to arena rocker was on full display Tuesday night at his first of two shows in Asheville. The North Carolina music hub welcomed the Kentucky crooner to the annoyingly named ExploreAsheville.com Arena, which once hosted a late-era Elvis concert. There is a beauty in the ego death of the new Johnny Blue Skies moniker, and Sturgill clearly had no desire during the show to be anyone’s King.

Wilco rolled in Friday night to Asheville, NC, a town still reeling and recovering from the surreal devastation of Hurricane Helene and the subsequent flood that wrecked the tight-knit mountain community late last September. The show served as Wilco’s first at the newly rechristened Asheville Yards Amphitheater, one of the first bands to play there since the downtown, open-air venue (controversially) changed names and hands from Rabbit Rabbit at the beginning of the year.
