Frank Sheerin, former creative director of Arks Advertising, has died. His major claim to fame during an auspicious career was writing the award-winning Guinness ‘Island’ TV commercial in 1977. Marketing.ie readers voted it Ireland’s ‘Ad of the Century’ in 1999. He also wrote the famous Harp commercial with Sally O’Brien and “the way she might look at you”. Sheerin’s career in adland started at Kenny’s in Middle Abbey Street. He joined Arks in the late 1950’s.

The ads are targeted young adults who “embrace their inner fox” by making the most of life’s social occasions. Thinkhouse is the brand’s through-the-line agency delivering brand strategy, creative, social and PR.

Irish agencies were among the award winners at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity 2025. Dentsu, Droga5 Dublin, Folk VML, Publicis Dublin and Thinkhouse won awards and were shortlisted. Publicis Dublin, Thinkhouse and Dentsu managed to take home three silver and two bronze Lions for Heineken’s ‘Pub Succession’.

Dublin-born creative agency The Tenth Man lit up central London with a projection stunt in support of Kneecap and the right to free artistic expression. The projection appeared across three Camden’s Electric Ballroom, the site of the band’s original performance that triggered the investigation as well as County Hall at Southbank and The Strand in Central London.
