Introduction Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors are a novel class of antihyperglycaemic drugs used in the management of type 2 diabetes, that improve glycaemic control, cardiovascular outcomes and promote weight loss. They are also approved for the treatment of heart failure and chronic kidney disease in patients with or without diabetes.

Initially Begum's works were representational, but as she became exposed to artists such as Ellsworth Kelly and Sol LeWitt, she carried her interest in line, colour, and light towards an abstracted exploration of repetition and materiality. During her Masters degree, the artist gained inspiration from Latin American artists including Jesús Rafael de Soto and Hélio Oiticica, and Constructivist artists such as Charles Biederman.

Colonialism and Commercial TradeCandice Lin's concern with the legacies of colonial trade is evident in her early works. It Makes the Patient See Pictures, her 2012 solo exhibition at François Ghebaly in Los Angeles, for example, included figurines with phallic-shaped heads that reference the 19th-century Yoruba carvings of Queen Victoria. In A Body Reduced to a Brilliant Colour, a 2016 solo exhibition at London's Gaswork, Lin explored the relationship between bodies and commodities.
