    With severe weather in the forecast on May 16, Post-Dispatch photographer Laurie Skrivan positioned herself in Kirkwood, waiting. Little did she know, the storm passing over her was about to unleash the worst tornado to hit the city of St. Louis since 1959. The strike left more than 1,000 structures with significant damage and five people dead, mainly in north St. Louis.

    A group of former Girl Scouts from St. Louis is doubling down on their acts of kindness, after their bracelet-making fundraiser for kids in Gaza got pushback from some adults. About 100 supporters showed up at the Islamic Center of Hazelwood on Saturday, March 2, 2027 to help the former troop members as they worked to make 2,000 more bracelets to raise money for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund.

    Are two heads better than one? The Missouri Department of Conservation has an answer and it's Tiger-Lily. The rare, female, two-headed western rat snake is on display this month only at Powder Valley Conservation Nature center. The public can drop by the indoor public building where Tiger-Lily can be seen Tuesdays through Saturdays. On Wednesdays, visitors might get a special treat when Tiger-Lily gets her weekly feeding of mice.

Work is wrapping up on a 4-story tall mural that celebrates those who cheer the team on, and in a big way. "We hope that when people drive up Olive Street toward CityPark — soccer fan or not — they feel a sense of pride and optimism in the spirit of St. Louis," a team spokesperson said.
