On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, with six days remaining in histerm, President Joe Biden reinstated a statutory suspension of newlawsuits filed under Title III of the Helms-Burton Act. Thereinstatement halts the filing of new lawsuits under Title III butdoes not affect pending suits. President Biden's suspension ofTitle III suits can—and likely will—be discontinued bythe incoming Trump administration, which had lifted a priorsuspension of Title III in 2019.
