CANTON — Walsh Jesuit baseball is back in the state final four. The Warriors (20-8) will face Whitehouse Anthony Wayne (23-4) at 1 p.m. June 13 in a Division II state semifinal at Thurman Munson Stadium in Canton. Walsh, ranked No. 8 in the final state coaches poll, makes its 10th state final four appearance and third in five seasons. The Warriors are looking for their first state title since 2008. Walsh won titles in 1999, 2004, 2006 and 2008 and finished second in 2009 and 2010.

Woodridge's Marissa Boone finished her high school track career with two All-Ohio finishes, placing second in the 800 meters and fourth in the 1,600 meters at the Division II state meet. CVCA athletes earned All-Ohio finishes in all five events they competed in at the Division II state meet, including a second-place finish for Joelle Cherry in the 300-meter hurdles.

The OHSAA state track and field meet returns to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus this weekend after a year in Dayton. The meet takes place June 6-7 and features athletes from Greater Akron competing in Divisions I, II, and III. A full schedule of events and list of qualifiers is available. The OHSAA state track and field meet is back in Columbus this weekend. After a one-year hiatus spent at Welcome Stadium in Dayton, Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium has a new track surface ready to go.

Olentangy Liberty defeated Hudson 12-8 in an OHSAA Division I girls lacrosse state semifinal. Hudson rallied from a four-goal deficit to tie the game in the first half, but Liberty pulled away in the second half. Disputed calls and draw controls were key factors in the game's outcome.

OFF-LEASH, a pop-punk band from Akron, Ohio, has been making music since 2018 and has won several awards. Lead singer Elliott Carter, whose family has deep roots in the Akron music scene, balances her music career with being a college student. The band has played at various venues, including the Whisky-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles, and is currently working on their first album. Some seem to think rock 'n' roll might be in trouble in the hands of Gen Z. Elliott "with two Ts" begs to differ.
