Three of the four spots in the NASCAR Cup Series Championship 4 were awarded fair and square, but a lot of controversy surrounded the battle for the final spot in the 2024 season. In the final run of the penultimate race of the season, the Round of 8 cutoff race at Martinsville Speedway, Ryan Blaney was cruising to win and advance to the championship race, while William Byron held onto the last Championship 4 position on points.

RIDGEWAY, Va. — Taylor Gray had his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win as well as a spot in the Championship 4 right in front of him. Then contact from Christian Eckes sent the No. 17 TRICON Garage up the racetrack and out of contention on Friday night (Nov. 1). Eckes went on to win the Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 200 at Martinsville Speedway, while Gray settled for fourth. In a night where Gray essentially had to win to make the Championship 4, fourth was not good enough.

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — The 2024 zMAX CARS Tour season came to a close on Saturday night (Oct. 19) with championship night at North Wilkesboro Speedway. The CARS Tour late models were a key component of North Wilkesboro’s revival in 2022, and the historic track has been a part of the CARS schedule ever since, even hosting two races this season. The first date of 2024 was supposed to be in May, the week of the NASCAR Cup Series’ All-Star Race, but heavy rain delayed the race to August.

If a FedEx exodus from the NASCAR Cup Series is imminent, could it lead to Denny Hamlin leaving Joe Gibbs Racing as well? On Sept. 24, the Sports Business Journal reported that the longtime sponsor of the JGR No. 11 could either reduce its sponsorship further or leave NASCAR altogether following the 2024 season. It’s no secret that FedEx has already greatly reduced its presence as Hamlin’s sponsor. It went from being a full-season sponsor to just doing 12 races last year.

When the green flag flies for the Bush’s Beans 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Thursday, Sept. 19, Logan Misuraca will have more pressure to perform than most in the ARCA Menards Series field. For Misuraca, Bristol is her only scheduled start for the 2024 season. “I think that’s why Bristol was such a, not even like a stressful thing for me, but it was the only one on the schedule for this year I have,” Misuraca told Frontstretch.

Parker Reztlaff‘s sophomore season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series has been an up and down one. The Jordan Anderson Racing driver has shown a lot of speed at times. He doubled his top fives from last year in just the first two races of the season, and he also picked up his first career NXS pole at Richmond Raceway. However, the Rhinelander, Wis,, native has also had horrible luck, failing to finish eight of the 25 races so far. He only had four DNFs in all of last year.

Corey Heim is probably the top Toyota prospect right now, and Joe Gibbs Racing is of course the top Toyota team. Makes sense for them to get together, right? But they haven’t, and it appears they won’t any time soon, all over a feud that happened in the ARCA Menards Series. It’s no secret that there was no love lost between Heim and Ty Gibbs, grandson of owner Joe Gibbs, when they competed for the ARCA championship in 2021. Both prodigies put up legendary numbers in a clash-of-titans title fight.
