AbstractAgainst the traditional view, a recently published theory argued that isotope ratios are higher in convective precipitation but lower in stratiform precipitation and proposed that isotope ratios reflect rain type proportions. This theory has been widely cited despite some early reservations. Whether the theory represents a faithful reflection of signals of water isotope ratios remains unclear.

AbstractLiving organisms have evolved various biological puncture tools, such as fangs, stingers, and claws, for prey capture, defense, and other critical biological functions. These tools exhibit diverse morphologies, including a wide range of structural curvatures, from straight cactus spines to crescent-shaped talons found in raptors. While the influence of such curvature on the strength of the tool has been explored, its biomechanical role in puncture performance remains untested.

AbstractSkeletal muscle has gained recognition as an endocrine organ releasing myokines upon contraction during physical exercise. These myokines exert both local and pleiotropic health benefits, underscoring the crucial role of muscle function in countering obesity and contributing to the overall positive effects of exercise on health. Here, we found that exercise activates muscle p38γ, increasing locomotor activity through the secretion of interleukin-15 (IL-15).

AbstractHigh-voltage phase transition constitutes the major barrier to accessing high energy density in layered cathodes. However, questions remain regarding the origin of phase transition, because the interlayer weak bonding features cannot get an accurate description by experiments. Here, we determined van der Waals (vdW) interaction (vdWi) in LixCoO2 via visualizing its electron density, elucidating the origin of O3─O1 phase transition.
