    MINNESOTA (KTTC) – Adopt a Highway volunteers in Minnesota have done a lot to help keep our highways clean. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, volunteers helped clear out nearly 29,000 bags of trash in 2024 alone. The more than 1,600 Minnesotans volunteered over 80,000 hours to pick up litter for the program. With at least 1,000 sections currently available for adoption across Minnesota, MnDOT welcomes more groups to volunteer and help keep roadsides clean.

RPD shared the news in a Facebook post Wednesday that Captain Casey Moilanen will retire after three decades of serving the Rochester community. Owatonna-based non-profit “Lighthouse of Southern Minnesota” is starting a new fundraising campaign called “100 Women and 100 Men - Be the Light Challenge”.
