(WV News) – Hayden Chickerell’s social media efforts with Bethany College paid off. “I’ve been following their (lacrosse) page for a while,” the soon-to-be Fairmont Senior graduate said. “In November, they just messaged me and we set up a call and a tour.”Chickerell liked what she saw. “They were very open about everything. From the get-go, they were very nice. The way they treated me, I wanted that kind of contact. That’s when the recruiting process began for me,” Chickerell said.

    CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — The annual Exponent Telegram All-County Sports Awards ceremony has been set for Tuesday, June 24 at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in downtown Clarksburg. The ceremony honors athletic achievement in Harrison County. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m.Honorees do not need to purchase a ticket, but do need to register. The cost for parents, family members and other supporters is $5 a ticket.

The Bridgeport girls are the highest-ranked program in the area, currently sitting second in Class AAA with 489 points, behind Herbert Hoover (581.5).

    SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — The North-South Football Classic has announced the preliminary players and coaches for this year’s game. The North will be coached by Lewis County’s Dustin Cogar and he’ll have several local players to choose from on the sideline, including his own Owen Acord (DB) and Maddox Gillespie (DL/LB). Harrison County will be represented by Bridgeport’s Donovan Williams (TE/LB), Lincoln’s Aidan Rice (WR/DB) and South Harrison’s Luke Given (OL/DL).
