This week in Suffolk University sports: Baseball and softball handed quick playoff exits and track & field wraps up season at pair of meets. Baseball handed back-to-back playoff lossesBaseball took on Western New England University in the first round of the Conference of New England playoffs May 7, getting routed 11-1 by the Golden Bears. The Golden Bears had a 5-0 lead after three innings. In the fourth, the Rams scored their lone run of the day thanks to an RBI single by Sam Armbruster.

Thousands of people packed the streets of downtown Boston April 21 for the 129th annual Boston Marathon, watching as the course record was broken and Kenyan elite runners won the men’s and women’s races. After losing to Hellen Obiri in 2024, Sharon Lokedi captured the title in the women’s race this year, crossing the finish line with a 2:17:22 time after outkicking Obiri at the end. Lokedi’s time shatters the previous women’s course record of 2:19:59, set by Buzunesh Deba in 2014.

Star-studded space crew reaches new heights in Blue Origin adventureAn all-female space exhibition launched by Blue Origin had a safe take-off and landing April 14, all in 10 minutes and 21 seconds. The crew for the mission was made up of Pop star Katy Perry, journalist Gayle King, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, social entrepreneur and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn and Jeff Bezos’ journalist fiancée Lauren Sánchez.
