With great joy and amusement, I was able to share a television moment that has become a perfect meme on Monday's Daily Delivery podcast with Patrick Reusse. Reusse, who has seen about 100 times more prestige TV than I have - unless we are counting animated movies in the last decade, which aside from sports is about all I have time to watch with our three young kids - was only vaguely familiar with the Netflix sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave.

By Michael Rand Star Tribune columnist Patrick Reusse joins host Michael Rand for a look back at the weekend in sports, which included three dramatic Twins games (but only one win) in Seattle. Along the way, Royce Lewis continued to struggle. Does he need to be sent back to the minors? Plus they get into the Wolves offseason and Chris Finch's curious quote about needing to expand the playing rotation. And the Lynx are undefeated while the Loons finally won in Seattle.

If you were sitting in the car with me at various points in the last year, the thing you might hear me say the most is a string of expletives followed by “Are we not there yet? How is this still Eagan?”You would have to listen hard because I try to mutter it under my breath, so the kids don’t hear me, because they are already getting a little too good at swearing.

On June 19, 2024, Twins third baseman Royce Lewis confidently relayed to reporters what he had told then-Twins hitting coach David Popkins earlier that day: "Hey, I don't do that slump thing. That's not a real thing for me." Lewis had just gone 3-for-4 in a game against Tampa Bay one game after what was back then an uncharacteristic 0-for-5 night. Fact-checking in real-time from MLB.com's Do-Hyoung Park confirmed that Lewis to that point in his young career had been relatively slump-free.

Young stars don't typically lead their teams to the NBA conference finals, and the fact that Anthony Edwards has brought the Wolves there in back-to-back seasons at age 22 and 23 is remarkable. OKC won 24 games when SGA was 23, but point taken. Edwards has added elements to his game to make his arsenal even better. He led the league in three-pointers this season.

Lotta wolves fans complaining about a playoff W tonight ... I thought Golden State played their asses off, almost a perfect game. Not an ugly win, but a hard-fought one. Don't know if last year's Wolves could win this kind of game
