    May Day, last Thursday, May 1, annually a day of celebration, quickly turned into “May Day!” an emergency call for help, as a prescribed burn on Joint Base Cape Cod went out of control. Firefighters from across Cape Cod and southeastern Massachusetts were called to the scene as the fire spread to hundreds of acres on the base. The fire started as a controlled burn, but then grew outside of the set boundaries of the prescribed area.

    Elected officials and housing advocates gathered last week for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Cape View Way, a new housing development in Sagamore Beach.
