NORFOLK, Neb. — For the past 25 years, these tones on the radio have signaled go-time for Bill Jepsen. Jepsen is the lead pilot for LifeNet in Norfolk. He flies a medical helicopter to transport patients from one hospital to another or from an emergency scene to a hospital. “We basically have a flying ER," Jepsen said. "The nurses and the paramedics have all the drugs, they can intubate, they can put a breathing tube down somebody if they need it, they can shock them if they have a heart attack.

NORFOLK, Neb. — Two people are being treated for injuries following a fiery crash involving a drunk driver. It happened at 6:20 Tuesday night at the intersection of Highway 35 and Benjamin Ave. in Norfolk. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Cutter Anderson of Norfolk was driving north on the highway at about 60 miles per hour. Investigators believe he didn’t brake when approaching the intersection and collided with an SUV. The impact then sent the SUV into a third car.

NORFOLK, Neb. — A Nebraska art center is responding after being accused of censorship and exclusion for removing a work from an exhibition. The controversy stems from the 18th Annual Juried Show at the Norfolk Arts Center. In a news release issued Friday evening, executive director Sherry Ruden said the piece was removed “due to the content of the work.”The release didn’t name the piece or the artist and didn’t offer a description of the work.

NORFOLK, Neb. — The largest steel manufacturer in North America and some of its plants in Nebraska are dealing with the fallout from a cybersecurity incident. Nucor Corporation operates Nucor Steel Nebraska, Nucor Detailing Center and Vulcraft Nebraska in Norfolk. According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission made on Tuesday, the company recently identified a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized third-party access to certain information technology systems.
