1 INTRODUCTION Mood and anxiety symptoms during pregnancy and the postpartum period (the perinatal period) are associated with serious obstetric outcomes (e.g., increased preterm birth risk; Ding et al., 2014), adverse development outcomes across the lifespan (e.g., increased infant illnesses, social–emotional and behavioral issues; Stein et al., 2014), and increased risk for the development of postpartum depression (Rambelli et al., 2010; Sutter-Dallay et al., 2004).
