Health Care Quality, Access, and EvaluationPrimary Health CareNHS England published guidance on 16 national medicines optimisation ‘opportunities’ for integrated care boards (ICBs) in 2023.1 These were selected to support ICBs in tackling inequalities, improving outcomes and value for money, and relate to appropriate use, access and uptake of medicines.2 ICBs are recommended to choose at least five of these opportunities alongside their local medicines optimisation priorities.

AbstractThis article outlines recent developments in non-allergist delivered penicillin allergy de-labelling (PADL), discusses remaining controversies and uncertainties and explores the future for non-allergist delivered PADL. Recent developments include national guidelines for non-allergist delivered PADL and validation of penicillin allergy risk assessment tools. Controversies remain on which penicillin allergy features are low risk of genuine allergy.
