The Federal Trade Commission’s final rule broadly banning noncompete clauses between employers and workers, released on April 23, 2024, was published in the Federal Register on May 7, so the ban will take effect on September 4, unless it is enjoined or otherwise delayed by legal challenges.

First Terraform, and now Vault: More open source code abandoned by HashiCorp is a finding a home with potential competitors. In September, HashiCorp rivals forked Infrastructure as Code (IaC) software Terraform to create OpenTofu, after HashiCorp moved much of its core enterprise software from an open source to a Business Source License. Now the OpenBAO project has set out to maintain the open source version of HashiCorp’s widely used Vault security software.

Did you see this year’s BFCM (Black Friday Cyber Monday) Globe from Shopify? I did, and loved it. Every year the Shopify team knocks it out of the park and this year was no exception! However, unless you possess NASA level WebGL engineering skills, creating a 3D globe is hard. Fortunately react-globe.gl by Vasco Asturiano is here to help. I’ve used this library on a number of occasions, but this time I wanted to see how close I could get to Shopify’s BFCM ‘23 globe.
