Some female high school athletes want an end to a policy that allows transgender athletes to compete in girls' sports, claiming it has created unfair competition. "Right here, right now, we are hand-delivering a petition signed by 20,074 people," California Family Council outreach director Sophia Lorey said. Female high school athletes, their families and supporters brought a petition to a California Interscholastic Federation meeting in Costa Mesa on Friday.

As immigration operations continue, some are taking additional steps to prepare for unexpected encounters with federal agents. "With everything happening in our community, there was definitely that sense of, 'Am I safe? I'm a citizen. Am I OK? How can I prove that?" Santa Ana community advocate Maria Corona said. Corona helped a 15-year-old get his original birth certificate after immigration agents detained his father.

A grassroots group in Orange County is helping family members track down their loved ones after they are detained during immigration operations. Field director Victor Vallardares works for Resilience OC, one of several nonprofits that help inform the community about immigration actions across Orange County. "We understand that there is fear," Valladares said.

The sidewalks next to the food trucks on Pine Street in Santa Ana are usually crowded with customers. But since Monday, as the community began hearing about immigration actions, employees say business has been horrible. "Like, 50% less," one worker said. "Less people in the street. Maybe they are not working. They have fear. I don't know."Customer Juan Cervantes stopped by for some seafood at Mariscos al Estilo Nayarit and said it's been a lot quieter.

A former Orange County Assistant District Attorney was awarded $3 million by a San Diego jury this week after they found that she was forced to retire as a result of harassment from District Attorney Todd Spitzer and his assistant Shawn Nelson.
