HOUSTON — The unofficial start to summer is here, and many Houstonians are cooling off at city pools this Memorial Day weekend. Families packed the Alief Community Center pool on Saturday, one of eight city pools open to the public. That’s two fewer than originally scheduled. “We’re excited we’re opening up our pools,” said Kenneth Allen, director of Houston Parks and Recreation.
