The fallout from Liberal Leader Mark Carney’s refusal to participate in an independent French-language debate hosted by TVA continued in Quebec on Wednesday. Carney had said Tuesday morning he would participate in the “Face-à-Face” debate, noting that any election debate had to have participation of all the party leaders. Later in the day, however, he said he would not be participating because the Green Party was not invited to take part. TVA subsequently cancelled the program.

Montreal’s executive committee will approve a $12.8 million planning contract on Wednesday, a first step toward Projet Montréal’s controversial $89-million redesign of the road that bisects Mount Royal. Alex Norris, the city’s executive committee member responsible for Mount Royal Park, confirmed in an interview that two local firms — CIMA+, an engineering firm, and Lemay, a landscape architecture firm — teamed up to win their bid for the six-year professional services contract.
