TCR When you clicked on this column, you clearly expected me to talk about our beloved Illinois basketball team didn’t you? Clearly the Fighting Brads are ready for prime time. Will Riley, our pair of blossoming eastern European stars, Kylan Boswell, and Ben Humichrous will get a ton of primetime games this year. But what about football? Jack Jungmann If you are like me, I nerd out when I see stats like this.

TCRBrad It’s the last month of the regular season and there are three games left. Clearly the message is to finish the year strong. As the resident statistician, there are just some things that create writer’s block. It’s really hard to talk about the same things nine times in the season. There is one thing where you see that week over week improvement you can point why these things improved.

Photo by Ali Gradischer/Getty Images Let us recalibrate now that the toughest part of the schedule is behind us. 6 wins. 5 wins at home. 2 losses to current AP Top 3 teams. If you told me that would be Illinois 8 games into the season I would be ecstatic. Since the year 2000, Illinois has had an undefeated home season once — in 2007. Illinois has started 5-0 twice, 2007 and 2022.

TCR | Jack Jungmann I want to address some things before I start my column. I used to bartend at the old White Horse Inn, right before it closed down for good in 2016 (after it moved from Green Street to John Street). I bartended Friday happy hours and Saturday nights. My favorites were always the townies, and especially this die-hard fan named Oliver who worked at Cramer Siding and Windows right off County Fair Drive. When we moved into our location at 501 E.

TCR || Jack Jungmann Once again, let’s start with the F5 Metric. It really is starting to paint a picture of what Illinois is as a team. Overall, Illinois is moving the ball really well on offense and more importantly scoring the ball. In 4 of the 6 games the Illini have played they average 6+ yards a play, have a success rate of 40%+, and limit turnovers on offense, all while being very efficient at scoring the ball inside the opponent 40.

BREAKING: Jonah Coleman’s TRANSFORMATION is complete. From bruiser to sculpted nightmare, he’s faster, stronger, and somehow even more dangerous. One Washington strength coach said: “He kept the power, added the speed, and lost every ounce of wasted weight. This isn’t a running https://t.co/R99PdDzcQG

🚨BREAKING: Washington DC Ryan Walters on his defensive philosophy: “I don’t coach defenses—I design nightmares. If you’re on the other side of the ball, you’re not running an offense—you’re running for your life. We’re not here to ‘compete.’ We’re here to erase quarterbacks, https://t.co/261wEBIECl
