Jack (29-3-3, 17 KO) a conservé son titre via une décision majoritaire (114-114, 115-113 et 115-113) lors du combat principal d’appui de Canelo Alvarez contre William Skull. Mikaelian a déposé un appel auprès de la WBC après cette décision.
