An influential group of cross-party MPs will examine the business events sector and propose recommendations to the Government as part of a specialised Culture Media and Sport Select Committee inquiry. Dame Caroline Dinenage MP (pictured), chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee, announced the inquiry during her closing address at The Business of Events Global Policy Forum, which took place yesterday (1 April) at IET London: Savoy Place in Westminster.

The Financial Times Group is acquiring Invisso, an organiser of events for the structured finance, bond and private credit markets, from Delinian. The purchase, for an undisclosed amount, will expand FT Live’s events offering in the US and Europe.

The Celtic Collection and ICC Wales have appointed Julie Hammond as the group’s new CEO. Hammond succeeds Ian Edwards, who died in October 2024 following a period of illness. Subsequently, Celtic Manor Resort, part of the collection, renamed its conference centre after Edwards in tribute to the group’s long-serving chief. Hammond now takes charge of the UK’s newest convention centre and Wales’ largest independent hotel group.

As part of the tenth-anniversary celebrations for the Event Photography Awards, a ‘Best Ever’ competition is underway and EN readers have a chance to vote for their favourite images. The Event Photography Awards was founded by staffing agency Off To Work in 2014. The 10 overall winners of previous competitions have automatically qualified for the final, where they will be joined by the winners of 13 ‘Best Ever’ categories.
