The award process is simple, with the highest individual point scorer typically walking away with the title. And with 30 points, Wiltz easily topped his fellow competitors - and five entire teams - in that regard.

    St. Paul’s basketball coach Stephen Dale announced Tuesday afternoon he is stepping down from the program after nine years at the helm of the Wolves to focus on a different role within the school. Dale is stepping back from coaching to focus on his role as Director of Development where he leads the school’s fundraising efforts. Dale will continue teaching business electives on top of the administrative position.

No. 3 Woodlawn once again fell in the Division I select girls basketball final on Saturday, this time 61-51 to No. 4 Huntington in a rematch of the 2024 semifinal that saw Woodlawn come out on top. The win is Huntington’s first state championship in either girls or boys basketball.

No. 7 Albany’s underdog run at the Division II girls nonselect basketball state championship — a run that saw the Hornets upset the No. 2 and 3 teams in the bracket on their way to the final — ended, once again, at the hands of the now four-time reigning champion No. 1 Wossman 62-25 Friday night. This is the fourth consecutive season Albany’s season ended at the state tournament to Wossman.
