At Rutgers University-New Brunswick, Josh Kover finds himself adapting – much like how plants can adapt to their environment. Kover’s evolution took a dramatic turn four years ago. Shiftless during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maplewood, N.J., resident recognized a need in his community for a quiet and sustainable landscaping service while everyone was working from home. He launched his own business, New Gen Garden, in September 2020 while taking high school courses remotely.

The massive celebration that is Rutgers Day is nearly here. The spring event at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, featuring more than 400 programs and activities, is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 26, on Busch campus in Piscataway, N.J., and the College Avenue and Cook/Douglass campuses in New Brunswick, N.J. “Rutgers Day has something for everyone,” said Melissa Selesky, senior director of strategic events and programs for Rutgers Communications and Marketing.

Mukhilan Saravanakumar found a way to mix two passions – music and science – into a harmonious college experience at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. The sophomore, a member of the honors program at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, is pursuing a major in biotechnology and a double minor in data science and music. Saravanakumar, who plays the clarinet as a member of the Rutgers University Marching Scarlet Knights, said he was drawn to science as a child.
