If you goThe Southern Maryland Boat Club will host the Piney Point Rumble on the River from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, at the Piney Point Landing. Then, the Leonardtown Bash on the Bay will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27, at the Leonardtown Wharf. Heats will be held 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. both days. The pits will be open to the public between noon and 1 p.m. Free admission. Bring chairs and a food truck will be on site.

Charles County government earlier this week announced the appointment of Jacob Dyer as the director of the Department of Fiscal and Administrative Services. Dyer currently serves as acting director and his appointment was effective June 2. "I’m pleased to announce Jacob Dyer as the new Director of the Department of Fiscal and Administrative Services,” Charles County Acting Administrator Deborah Hall said in a news release.

St. Mary’sMen’s Health Day: A Blueprint for Wellness will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Garvey Senior Activity Center. The free event will feature presentations on Promoting Prostate Health (9:30 to 10:30 a.m.) and Planning Ahead: Advance Health Care Directives, Hospice Services, and more (11 a.m. to noon). There will also be informational displays, health screenings, and lunch by Mission BBQ. Free and open to the public but registration is encouraged.
