Wayne State softball hosted a pair of doubleheaders, the baseball team hosted a doubleheader on Saturday and a nine-inning game on Sunday, Wildcat football held its spring scrimmage Saturday morning, Wayne State soccer had an exhibition game Saturday and Wayne State rugby had a game on Sunday as well.

    Wildcat softball managed just two runs in its two games Sunday, dropping the opening game of the doubleheader with the University of Minnesota-Crookston at the Pete Chapman Softball complex 4-2 and lost a 1-0 pitcher's duel to the Golden Eagles on Senior Day for the Wildcats. The WSC baseball jumped out to a 2-run lead at the end of the first frame, doubled the advantage in the second inning, added a run in the third then doubled the lead again to 10-0 in the fourth.

    "Beach volleyball is definitely different," said Norfolk Catholic standout, Channatee Robles, who played a lot of sets on the volleyball hard court for the 'Cats this past fall. "It makes you communicate better with your teammate and hit some different shots you normally wouldn't hit in the fall."There are two teammates playing together in every match and the camaraderie between the participants on the same team makes it that much more special than the fall version of volleyball.

    The Wildcats won the opener 2-0 then dropped the second game of the series 5-2 to exit the day with an 18-12 record with a 3-3 mark in the Northern Sun Conference race. The Bulldogs left Wayne with a 23-11 record and also 3-3 in the conference. "We hadn't beaten Minnesota Duluth in quite a while, so it was great to get that first game under our belt," said second-year Wayne State coach, Christy Warnock. "Now we need to take it the next step and get the sweeps on days like this.
